Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 5 June 2025
1. Our commitment
Driftwild is committed to making its website accessible to as wide an audience as possible. We want visitors to be able to read, navigate, and use the site regardless of the device or assistive technology they use. This statement describes what we aim for, the steps we have taken, and how to let us know if something isn't working.
2. Conformance target
We work toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. This is the standard recommended by international accessibility bodies for commercial websites.
3. Measures taken
To support accessibility on this site, we have:
- Used semantic HTML elements — headings in a logical order, landmark regions (
<header>,<main>,<footer>,<nav>), and native form elements with associated labels. - Maintained a colour contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 for all body text and interactive elements against their backgrounds.
- Ensured all interactive elements (links, buttons, form fields, toggles) are reachable and operable via keyboard navigation, with visible focus indicators.
- Provided descriptive
alttext for all meaningful images; decorative images carry an emptyaltattribute. - Supported the
prefers-reduced-motionmedia query — no motion or transitions appear if the operating system requests reduced motion. - Used
<dialog>for the cookie consent panel with labelled controls and ESC-key dismissal. - Ensured all content is readable and functional with JavaScript disabled, with the exception of the cookie consent dialog.
4. Known limitations
We are aware of the following areas that may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA:
- The embedded Google Maps iframe is a third-party component. We provide a heading and labelled container, but the map itself is not under our control and may not be fully keyboard-operable for all tasks.
- Content images are served via Lorem Picsum during development. These will be replaced with locally hosted images and reviewed for appropriate alternative text before launch.
We are actively working to address these limitations.
5. Feedback and reporting
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on this site — a page that doesn't read well with a screen reader, a form that can't be completed by keyboard, or a contrast issue we haven't caught — please let us know. We take these reports seriously and aim to respond within five working days.
